Abstract: My real obsession is story telling – how to bring words and stories to life… how to breathe life into something, how to share it. How to make the air between the actor and the audience feel charged with possibility. I think that muscular, taut drive is something common to all of my best work. It’s informed, driven, dramaturgical. It comes of a process – and it’s this I want to try to share a little of. To try to explain how I make the decisions I make. Biog: Paule is a lighting designer working in drama and opera. She is also an Associate Director of the National Theatre as well as of Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and of the Lyric Hammersmith. Her early career began working in music; she then spent time collaborating with Theatre de Complicite then with Katie Mitchell. She has a highly collaborative working practice. Recent widely seen work includes Warhorse and The Curious Incident.
